Butchering of our steer.

One of thing living on a farm, we raise and butcher our own animals.    Back in January of this we butcher  one of our steers, Petey.  Yes, it is sad, cause you do get attached to them.  He was well loved and taken care of and he provided well for our family. I don't have any pictures to show how  the process went with  skinning and cutting up parts to share.  Really didn't want to watch that part of it.  Growing up on a farm, we learned from a early age that certain animals would be for meat and other animals were for pets.   We have another steer were are raising and will be butchered when reaches butchering size and the weather is cold enough.  We like to butcher around 1,100lbs. or 18 mos of age.   I will post pics of us working up the meat.  Petey was a hereford/angus cross or that is what the lady told us when we purchased him.
